Where will you be working?
As a supervisory authority, the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) is tasked with ensuring the honest and fair treatment of financial consumers. The FSMA strives for transparent and comprehensible financial products, the transparent operation of the financial markets, the provision of appropriate financial services and better financial education. What does your job entail?
As a Data Architect with the IT service, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of the FSMA’s data analysis strategy, ensuring that it meets our current and future needs.
You will be working with the supervisory services and project teams at all levels, in order to guarantee that the strategy presents the best added value for the FSMA.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing and promoting the cartography of the data available to the FSMA, structuring them hierarchically based on their importance, volume, and critical nature; the aim being to facilitate and optimize data processing by the analysts.
- Interacting with experts and project managers to ensure the effective integration and connection of sources that contain overlapping data.
- Supporting and guiding the IT team in designing database models for data mining and analysis.
- Recommending solutions to improve the existing system of databases.
- Researching and keeping up with data modelling methods and information analysis technologies, in order to identify the ones that can be integrated into the FSMA’s data architecture. Drawing up an implementation plan, where needed, and proposing the steps for carrying it out.
What knowledge, experience and skills do you bring?
- 3+ years of professional experience in the field of data analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of the data exploring and analysis tools in the Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) suite: SQL Server, the Analysis Services cubes and the Power BI and Reporting Services data visualization tools.
- Experience implementing Corporate BI solutions and the Self-service BI mode.
- Interest in the technologies that support analysis in the (hybrid) cloud.
- An analytical mind, resistance to stress, ability to work both independently and as part of a team; good communication skills and a positive and constructive attitude.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Professionalism: competence, precision and commitment to advancement.
- Interest in the financial world.
- Master’s-level degree in IT or a Bachelor’s diploma in IT plus experience.
- Knowledge of Dutch or French required, and a passive knowledge of the other language as well as of English.
