Legal advisor for the ‘Supervision of company information’ department

WHERE WILL YOU BE WORKING?

You will be based in the ‘Supervision of company information’ department that is responsible for supervising information disseminated by listed companies. You will be working on matters such as:

  • financial and corporate law aspects of transactions such as IPOs, mergers and public takeover bids;
  • corporate governance;
  • sustainability reporting;
  • IFRS consolidated financial statements;
  • inside information.

Rules governing sustainability reporting by listed companies evolve rapidly. Adapting its supervisory practice to these changing requirements will be one of the department’s challenges in the coming years.

 WHAT WILL YOUR JOB ENTAIL?

You will cooperate with legal advisors and economists within the department’s staff in supervising information disseminated by listed companies and in developing the ESG supervisory practice of the department.

WHAT KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DO YOU BRING ?

  • Master’s degree in law, preferably with an additional education in an economic field.
  • Express interest in financial markets and in the ESG challenges facing companies.
  • Proactive mindset and excellent analytical skills and capacity for synthesis.
  • Ability to maintain high-level contacts and to conduct negotiations with companies under supervision.
  • Ability to communicate about technical topics in a clear manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability, eagerness to learn and solution-oriented thinking.
  • Solid competence in Dutch, French and English.
  • Good knowledge of the commonly used Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Preferably a few years’ professional experience as a lawyer specialized in financial or company law or as a staff member of a financial institution’s ‘Markets’ or ‘Corporate’ department, or any other similar professional experience.
  • Commitment to the tasks of general interest with which the FSMA is entrusted.
