This document discusses the Guidelines, published by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), for the assessment of knowledge and competence on the part of natural persons providing clients with investment advice or information about financial instruments, investment services or ancillary services on behalf of a regulated firm as referred to in Article 26 of the Law of 2 August 2002, and the implementation of these guidelines by the FSMA with respect to those regulated firms.
