Fraud can happen anywhere. Certainly in the area of investments and financial services. Every year, hundreds of Belgian consumers contact the FSMA with questions about this topic. Many of them are victims of fraudulent practices, others ask for information about the reliability of those offering financial products. The majority of cases of fraud reported to the FSMA concern boiler rooms and binary options.

Have a look at the various types of fraud and learn how to recognize and avoid fraud.

The FSMA publishes warnings against various companies that engage in unauthorized activities in Belgium.

Always be prudent! In case of doubt, don't hesitate to contact the FSMA directly.

Also feel free to inform the FSMA should you come into contact with a suspicious person or company about which the FSMA has not yet published a warning. Just because no warning has been published does not mean that the offeror has the requisite authorization to provide financial products or services in Belgium.
