The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) is competent to oversee and follow up on the new legislation on the banker’s oath. On 8 May 2024, the FSMA adopted a Regulation setting out the modalities for taking the banker’s oath and for the acceptance, admissibility and handling of complaints submitted relating to this matter. On 20 June 2024, the Royal Decree approving this FSMA Regulation was published in the Belgian Official Gazette. The FSMA takes this opportunity to provide more detailed explanations as to the swearing of the banker’s oath and the operation of the complaints channel.
