World Investor Week: the logo of World Investor Week

Yesterday marked the end of the World Investor Week. This campaign by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) was held from 2 to 8 October 2017. The purpose of the week was to promote investor education and protection worldwide. Securities regulators and other stakeholders from more than 80 countries on all continents worked toward the common goal of educating and protecting investors and raising awareness of how to be a smart investor.

The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA), as vice chair of IOSCO and as a member of the IOSCO Committee on Retail Investors, supported this initiative. As part of the World Investor Week, a conference on financial literacy was held in Brussels on 3 October 2017. Jean-Paul Servais, chairman of the FSMA, took the floor to address the different challenges in this field and the initiatives taken by the FSMA.

This awareness week was a great success and the different players will keep working together to further inform and protect investors.

A press release was also published on the website of the World Investor Week.
