Economist or a legal counsel in the Supervision of company information department - Issuances unit

WHERE WILL YOU BE WORKING?

You will be working in the “Supervision of company information” department, and in particular in the “Issuances” unit.  

Together with the other employees in this unit, you will be responsible for supervising unlisted companies that use forms of alternative finance (including crowdfunding/-lending, tax shelter, cooperative shares, etc.) to raise capital from the public. The supervision in question focuses on an ex ante examination of the contents of prospectuses that will be published when a public offer is made and on the ex-post verification of information notes. The examination looks at the completeness, consistency and comprehensibility of the information in such prospectuses or information notes. The department also works closely with the “Supervision of information disseminated by listed companies” department in the framework of issuances by listed companies.

WHAT IMPACT WILL YOU HAVE?

As a legal advisor or economist, you will work in collaboration with other legal advisors and economists in the department to supervise the information disseminated by unlisted companies.

WHAT DO YOU BRING?

  • A Master’s degree in Law (additional financial specialization is an asset) or a Master’s degree in Applied Economics, Commercial and Financial Sciences or Business Engineering (ideally you will also have had supplementary legal training).
  • A strong interest in financial markets.
  • A proactive approach, strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage high-level contacts and negotiations with companies under supervision.
  • Ability to communicate clearly on technical issues.
  • Both a team player and able to work independently.
  • Your strengths include eagerness to learn and solution-oriented thinking.
  • Solid competence in French, Dutch and English.
  • Good knowledge of the commonly used Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Preferably a few years’ experience as a lawyer specialized in financial law or corporate law, financial analyst, auditor or as a staff member in the “Markets” or “Corporate” department of a financial institution (or any other similar professional experience).
  • Commitment to the tasks of general interest with which the FSMA is entrusted.
