Belgian investment funds set a new record of 212 billion at the end of 2021

The quarterly overview of Belgian public open-ended investment funds

The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) has published the second edition of its quarterly dashboard of Belgian public open-ended investment funds, generally referred to as investment funds. The overview presented in this dashboard covers the fourth and last quarter of the year 2021. It shows that the Belgian fund sector has continued to grow, reaching total net assets under management of more than EUR 212 billion euros.

Other elements included in the overview:

  • During the last quarter of 2021, the net assets of funds saw a growth of 12.6 billion euros (+ 6 per cent); over the entire year 2021, the growth was 24 per cent.
  • The interest of investors in funds that refer to sustainability is evident, since such funds saw a net inflow of around 5.3 billion euros in the fourth quarter.
