WHERE WILL YOU BE WORKING?
The Economic Research and Forecasting service of the FSMA plays a leading role in monitoring developments and trends in the financial world, especially as regards financial technology (FinTech). It is tasked with identifying external risks, in particular via inputs from a cross-department Risk Committee and an external Consultative Committee. It conducts research into, for example, retail investor behaviour . These tasks constitute the foundations that enable the FSMA to draw up its annual action plan.
WHAT WILL YOUR JOB ENTAIL?
- You will be involved in monitoring trends in financial innovation and in identifying risks, if necessary by participating in working groups where necessary, at national, European or international levels.
- You will contribute to economic analyses in the FSMA’s areas of competence, based on external or internal data (MiFIR, EMIR databases, etc.).
- You will carry out periodic innovative and transversal projects (development of comparison tools, etc.).
WHAT KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DO YOU BRING?
- A Master’s degree in economics or in business engineering; a doctorate would be an asset.
- Preferably several years’ professional experience as an economist in the financial sector and/or in the academic world.
- Ability to process data (familiarity with the R software is an asset).
- Explicit interest in financial markets and products, as well as in the various new developments in those areas.
- Adaptability and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a team and to take initiative.
- Analytical skills and capacity for synthesis. Excellent capacity for logical structuring of oral and written communication.
- Efficiency, assertiveness and persuasive powers of argumentation.
- Affinity with the tasks in the public interest entrusted to the FSMA.
- Solid competence in French, Dutch and English.
