Banker's oath
Register to take the banker’s oath at the FSMA
You are required to take the oath at the FSMA if you are a banking service provider subject to fit & proper requirements. For more explanations, please see:

You are required to take the banker’s oath at the latest six months after the date on which the banker’s oath comes into force for you or, if later, after the date of entry into your position at an entity concerned.
By taking the banker’s oath, you confirm that you are familiar with and will comply with the ethical rules that apply to you. These rules are laid down in the Royal Decree of 28 January 2024, which we invite you to consult.
You can register to take the banker’s oath at the FSMA as follows:
- for persons with a Belgian identity card: by using the FSMA’s application, to which you can connect via eID or Itsme. You can subsequently consult, update or cancel your registration within the application. After you have taken the banker’s oath, you can also download a copy of your oath-taking certificate;
- for persons without a Belgian identity card: by contacting the “Management of the banker’s oath” unit of the FSMA by email: sbe@fsma.be (indicating the preferred time slot, the name and business number (in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises) of the entity at which you work, and a copy of your identity card).
An oath-taking session is currently scheduled for the following date/time:
- Thursday, 4 June 2026 at 10 a.m.
The FSMA will process the personal data you submit to it with your registration to take the oath in accordance with its Privacy Policy for banking service providers.
